Prestigious research grant received by dr Elżbieta Opiłowska
German-Polish Science Foundation funds project Poland and Germany in the European Union – new forms and models of bilateral relations in foreign policy and cross-border cooperation by Dr. Elżbieta Opiłowska (Center for Regional and Borderlands Studies at the Institute of Sociology/University of Wrocław) and Dr. Monika Sus (Hertie School of Governance, Berlin)
The research project aims to explore the dynamics of bilateral relations between Poland and Germany against the background of their membership in the European Union. It focuses on two case studies of foreign policy and cross-border cooperation and analyses the interdependencies between local, national and European level. In result, an analytical model will be developed that enables the complex examination of bilateral relations between member states and local actors and the impact of the European Union.
The research project is carried out in international cooperation of Center for Regional and Borderlans Studies (project leader Dr. Elżbieta Opiłowska) and Hertie School of Governace (project leader Dr. Monika Sus) in cooperation with the Center for Interdisziplinary Polish Studies at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt Oder. It was awarded funding of 90.000 €.
